Caroline Benetta Salter House, Gertrude Cayce's aunt, was born on March 2, 1875, in Christian County, Kentucky to Samuel Salter and Susan Harriet Jones Salter. She married Dr. Thomas Burr House on January 24, 1906. They had one child, Thomas Burr House, Jr. Dr. House served as the chief physician of the Cayce Hospital in Virginia Beach, Virginia until his death in 1929. Caroline returned to Kentucky and died in Hopkinsville on July 1, 1949.

House, Jr., his wife Doris Anderson House, and their son Thomas House III.
