Dates

  • Existence: 1889 - 1982

Lydia Schrader Gray (1889-1982) received readings from Edgar Cayce and had been a close friend of the Cayce family since 1938. She was a concert singer, whose professional responsibilities prevented her from moving to Virginia Beach until 1945. She helped care for Gertrude Cayce during the last three months of her life. After Gertrude death, Lydia helped answer the massive amount of correspondence and run the Cayce home.

Lydia served as one of the first official A.R.E. lecturers and served on the Board of Trustees. Starting in 1947, she traveled on a lecture circuit speaking and writing on the Cayce material. Her particular interest was numerology. In 1956, she became the Official Housekeeper of the newly re-purchased Cayce Hospital building and directed its redecoration. She led the fundraising efforts toward this project, donating the proceeds from numerology readings. She suffered a stroke in 1972 and died on April 1, 1982.
